shelly turtle made by julie
Every photo tells a story, every critter has something to tell us, that’s what I always think.
From the way I am so obsessed with my plush meow, you know I truly believe that every doll holds a special place in our hearts. To be honest, I grew up in a humble home, with just enough to see my sister and I through the main stream education. My mum lived frugally just so that we were properly fed and educated. Toys were luxuries that we didn’t get to enjoy very much. We got most of our toys from our birthday parties. (Even though we were not rich, mum made it a point to celebrate our birthdays)
Doll making probably served another purpose for me, to bring out that little child in me, the desire to play with little dolls which we didn’t get to do when we were little.
This little critter that Julie made, seems to tell me a bit more about her day. Do you hear it too? She says, ‘This is such a beautiful day with the perfect weather, it’s just such a joy to sit by the window and watch the world goes by’. hahaha, or was it just me hearing it?
Shelly is just so precious.
I named every doll I create, because it’s like giving a dedicated attention to the little one, and each of them is unique to me. I named the tortoise TorGri, he has a special place in my heart too.
