“coding” daze
So, I have begun the cart upgrading process yesterday.
To be very honest, I am pretty much a self-taught of everything person. I have never been trained in IT skills, so I hit many painful corners while learning on my own how to build a website using html, then now straining my tiny brain further to work with css. The language is like a completely strange foreign language to me.
I must be a very very, and I mean extremely determined person. My first computer was configured by a friend who is an IT expert. I had to trouble him every time the pc cranked up, back then, reformatting the HDD was a lot or trouble. I was a keen learner, driven by the thought of not having to trouble the friend so regularly, so I learned to fix minor problems such as reformatting the HDD in MSDOS mode. Eventually, the problem grew bigger and I learned to perform ‘open heart’ surgery. LOL!!
I must be crazy to decide to build a shopping cart on my own, or perhaps there is hidden presence of masochism involved when deciding to take on this ‘project’. I cannot deny though, that at the end of the day, the sense of satisfaction is gratifying!!!! I am proud that I have heavily customized the already customized template and core files!
Now, the greater pain has arrived when the cart is due for a highly recommended upgrade. It is because I have super customized the customized template and cart system, I now have to check file by file, line by line what changes I had made. Believe me, it is hell lot of changes to check!
It is like playing the “Spot the difference” game, less the entertaining factor. Not so fun when you know if you have changed the wrong code could result in complete damage to the cart, and by restoring the backup means starting everything over.
After just an afternoon of comparing the codes, I am already having pressure pounding headache (which spill over to today) and dizzy dazy mind. Wish me luck!
p/s: Yes, I do remember that I need to announce the winners of “Marry Me” pattern after the official promotion date – 30 Apr 10 – ends.

In spite of everything, you’ve done very well! The best way to learn is usually the ‘hard’ way…learning from our own mistakes!
Because of your tenacity and dedication you will do well Lis….no fear

Thank you Bel! Okie, keeping a positive mind, I will be just fine with the upgrade process..LOL.. xoxo
